The Consell Insular de Ibiza regulates car traffic on the island to protect the environment and mobility.
For 2026, the maximum quota has been significantly reduced to 17,668 daily authorisations (2,500 fewer than in 2025). You can find the legal details at ibizacircular.es
1. Procedures According to Your Type of Ticket with Baleària
To facilitate your journey, Baleària simplifies management depending on how you purchase your ticket:
- Return Tickets: Baleària will automatically manage the stay authorisation and will cover the cost of the fee, if you are required to pay it.
- One-way Tickets: The passenger is responsible for managing the remainder of their stay and paying the corresponding fee at ibizacircular.es. Baleària will only manage the first day.
- Agency/OTA Bookings: Systems are configured to preferentially offer return tickets to ensure traceability within the limited quota.
Important update: Arrival and departure days on the island no longer count towards the total stay period.

2. Cases of Automatic Exemption
- The following vehicles do not require any procedure or fee payment:
- Cars with fiscal domicile in Ibiza.
- Official or public service vehicles.
- Goods transport, commercial distribution, and agricultural or construction machinery.
- Leased or rented vehicles: If the holder is a resident in Ibiza, they are fully equated to owned vehicles (they must provide the contract and link on the Consell’s electronic headquarters).
3. Cases Requiring Accreditation (Mandatory Procedure)
Certain profiles are exempt from the quota or fee, but must prove their status at ibizacircular.es to avoid penalties.
