Information about boarding private vehicles to Algeria

🚩 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT VEHICLE TRANSPORT ON THE BARCELONA - ORAN AND BARCELONA - ALGIERS ROUTES

As announced by the Algerian Ministry of Transport, from June 15 to September 15, 2025, the following types of vehicles will not be allowed to board: 

  1. New export vehicles
  2. Export vehicles less than 3 years old
  3. Vans
  4. Vehicles with more than 7 seats used for the transport of goods. (This type of vehicle will only be allowed if all seats are occupied by passengers).

This restriction aims to ease port traffic management, especially during the high summer season.

This measure affects the ports of Algiers and Oran. Mostaganem is not subject to restrictions

 

If you are planning to travel by ferry to Algeria with a vehicle, please consider the following points:

  1. The boarding of any vehicle with a temporary license plate or a crossed-out registration document is not allowed.
  2. If you are traveling with a vehicle as a passenger without being its owner, you must present the following documentation to the customs authorities:

- Valid registration certificate

- A written authorization for the transfer of the vehicle. The document must be original, signed by the vehicle owner and the person transporting it to Algeria. It must also be signed and stamped by a notary, city hall, or a competent public authority.

- A copy of the identity document or passport of the vehicle owner and the person transporting it to Algeria.

 

3. IMPORTANT DEPARTURES FROM BARCELONA: If the passenger is carrying more than 3 pieces of any type of goods per passenger in the vehicle, it is strongly recommended to present an export DUA.

These requirements are MANDATORY.
