Information about Vehicle Export to Algeria

🚩 IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT VEHICLE TRANSPORT (CARS AND VANS) TO ALGIERS

According to the announcement by the Algerian Ministry of Transport, from 15 June to 15 September 2026, the boarding of the following types of vehicles is not permitted:

 

ROUTES TO ORAN AND ALGIERS

  1. New export vehicles
  2. Export vehicles less than 3 years old
  3. Vans and vehicles with more than 7 seats used for transporting goods

ROUTES TO MOSTAGANEM

  1. Boarding of vans and vehicles with more than 7 seats used for transporting goods is not permitted

This restriction aims to facilitate the management of port traffic, especially during periods of high influx in the summer.

 



 

  1. The customer must first make a regular booking (passenger + vehicle) via our website: https://www.balearia.com/fr, or by visiting our agency at the port of Valencia, Barcelona or through their travel agency.

    The vehicle registered in the booking must be the one intended for export and its characteristics must comply with customs regulations for the export of vehicles by individuals to Algeria.

  2. Once the passenger and vehicle booking is confirmed, to guarantee boarding, the customer must mandatorily send the DAE customs documentation (Export Accompanying Document) and their booking to the email address: export.algerie@balearia.com if travelling via Valencia or to exportacion.barcelona@balearia.com if travelling via Barcelona, at least 6 hours before the ship's departure. The DAE must indicate the registration number and the full chassis number (numbers and letters) of the vehicle and the port of departure of the journey. 
     

  3. The customer must arrive at the port on the day of travel at least 4 hours before the departure time if travelling from Valencia and, at least, 6 hours before if travelling from Barcelona, and be in possession of all the necessary documentation for the journey. 

    If the customer is not the owner of the car, they must present the following documentation to the customs authorities:

    - Valid vehicle registration document.
    - A written authorisation for the transfer of the vehicle. The document must be original, signed by the car owner and by the person who will take it to Algeria. The document must be signed and stamped by a notary, town hall or competent public body.
    - Copy of the identity document or passport of the vehicle owner and of the person transporting the vehicle to Algeria.
     

  4. Once at the port, the customer must pay a fixed sum of 50 euros for the export vehicle boarding so that the passenger boarding card and the authorisation for boarding the vehicle intended for export can be issued.
     
  5. IMPORTANT DEPARTURES FROM BARCELONA: In case the customer carries more than 3 packages per passenger of any type of goods in the vehicle, it is highly recommended to present an export DUA.
